  • Design and Manufacturing Process Development

    ACS believes in fostering a collaborative relationship with our customers. We will work closely with you to develop the best aerospace composite manufacturing process for your project. Our engineers design for manufacturing by listening to your design and cost input and develop a customized process to ensure your project runs smoothly.   • Manufacturing R&D

    Aerospace composite manufacturing is constantly evolving. From new advanced materials to additive manufacturing, technology advancements must keep pace with the exploding composites demand across multiple business sectors. ACS has a dedicated Manufacturing R&D team, focused on evaluating the application of new material systems, demonstrating new processing methods and tooling approaches, and making process improvements to our existing product lines. From conducting mechanical property tests on a new composite prepreg to fabricating full prototype components, our MR&D team is often at the forefront of evaluating new technologies and helping launch our new programs into rate production.

  • Testing & Inspection

    We conduct or coordinate a wide range of testing and inspection practices to ensure that all of our products meet customer requirements and specifications. Our team includes Nadcap-certified professionals to perform non-destructive ultrasonic and composite inspections. We can perform material characterization and mechanical testing on site.


Applied Composite Structures houses a top tier composite material test laboratory. This facility allows for a wide variety of prepreg, adhesive, resin system, and cured laminate and sandwich structure testing. ACS utilizes this capability to confirm incoming material properties to ensure a consistent high quality product is always delivered, extend the shelf-life of materials in accordance with customer specifications, and validate critical process parameters by routine testing of witness coupons. The laboratory additionally provides non-conformance support by probing the properties of interest, helping provide objective evidence that design intent is met.


The company is Nadcap AC7114 certified for Nondestructive Testing, and is approved by OEMs such as Boeing, Honeywell Aerospace, and Bell. The NDI department employs certified Level I, II & III inspectors, utilizing several squirter tables and immersion C-Scan systems, in addition to A-scan devices and bond testers. The department also utilizes a Portable XY Phased-Array Scanner.


ACS has historically certified a wide range of products to the stringent requirements of our customers and industry standards. Our experienced engineering team will create detailed test plans, manage all test activities, investigate and resolve test anomalies or failures, and ultimately deliver a comprehensive test report with all supporting data. Most recently, ACS completed full certification testing on a new wide body commercial aircraft APU inlet system. Testing was conducted for fire and flame penetration resistance, static and dynamic loading, fatigue, environmental exposure criteria, shock and vibration, hail impact, and lightning strike.


Metrology testing is a critical aspect of the aerospace composite manufacturing quality assurance processes. We perform in-house measurement inspection with the best coordinate measurement system in the industry, a FaroArm, a Faro laser tracker and Nikon CMM.
